Summary:

Tottenham and Finsbury Park are subject to a long-term regeneration scheme which includes the building, replacing and refurbishing of homes in this traditionally working class area north of London. Longstanding socio/economic problems are slowly being addressed in this truly cosmopolitan area with its many different ethnic groups. Tottenham and Finsbury offer some of London's cheapest properties and the excellent transport links with the city by rail and tube are attracting city workers in search of affordable housing with the promise of future gentrification.

Properties:

Small late-Victorian and Edwardian 2-storey terraces predominate; streets of 2 and 3 bed houses, whole or split into 1 or 2 bed flats. There are some 1930's style semi-detached houses particularly around Tottenham Hale and Park View Road. Larger, more expensive houses tend to be in Finsbury Park to the south-west, the popular family-sized homes nearest to Seven Sisters commanding the higher prices due to good transport links. Elegant period houses can still be found in Tottenham - the Bruce Grove area boasts very attractive tall Georgian style houses many converted into flats. Modern council and ex-council properties can be found to the north along with new developments, mainly flats, catering for key workers - especially teachers and hospital workers. There is a large new development of flats around Tottenham Hale on the banks of the river Lea. The area is becoming more popular with professional young people particularly in the new developments around the river Lea.

Buyers:

First time buyers, loyal locals. Young professional couples, priced out of neighbouring markets, looking for a family home. Key workers and their families.
