Summary:

Mayfair, in the centre of London, is a truly exclusive place to live and just a stone's throw away from everything the city has to offer. Located between both Hyde Park and Regent's Park it has over the centuries been the capital's premier residential area. Some of Mayfair's properties date as far back as the 17th century and were intended as homes for aristocrats and 'high society'. During its history, many of these homes disappeared or were taken over by the commercial world when office space became scarce in the city. In more recent years, these lovely Georgian and Victorian buildings have reverted back to their original intention – homes for the rich.

Properties:

Mayfair and St James's are the desired locations of rich bankers, embassy staff and wealthy internationals. Large red brick Georgian and Victorian mansions provide grand, serviced flats and apartments. There are also a number of small cottages and mews properties to the south of the district. St James's has fewer homes as much of its property is now used as offices. Like Marylebone, much of the area is privately owned and hence length of lease is a key factor in valuing property.

Buyers:

The more wealthy professionals and internationals. Foreign executives and their families. W1 is home to many diplomats and embassy staff. The Jubilee line service to the Docklands has also attracted young commuters from the Wharf's banking and legal professions.
