Postcodes:

Boroughs:

Barnet

Underground:

Brent Cross (Northern)
Golders Green (Northern)

Summary:

Golders Green comes under the NW11 postcode which also encompasses Hampstead Heath and Hampstead Garden Suburb. The area has plenty of open spaces, such as Golders Hill Park, and it is conveniently placed to reach London via the underground in around 15 minutes - by bus in 25 minutes. Distinctly respectable and popular with families. There is a cosmopolitan feel to Golders Green, with its variety of interesting shops, and young locals here can enjoy a café culture although they need to go further afield for anything more exciting.

Properties:

Suburban family housing dominates the area, although there are also prosperous blocks of purpose-built flats, particularly around Finchley Road to the north. The area is popular with wealthy, middle class families, and has a strong Jewish influence. The most prestigious part of Golders Green is in Hampstead Garden Suburb, north of Hampstead Heath. Here you will find the 3, 4 or 5 bedroomed homes, detached, semi-detached and terraced Edwardian villas in tree-lined settings. South of Golders Green Road around Golders Green Park there is similar attractive housing. There are several mansion blocks of flats along Hampstead Way overlooking Hampstead Heath.

Buyers:

Respectable, family area inhabited mainly by professional people. A high proportion of the population is Jewish. A congenial and family orientated area, and where long-standing residents tend to trade up to a bigger house, or downsize to a luxury flat. Good transport links are encouraging more house-hunters from the surrounding area.
