Summary:
Finchley is a middle-class suburbia stronghold situated about seven miles from the centre of London. One of its favourite sons is Spike Milligan, whose bronze statue might one day grace its centre, attracting fans from near and far. Finchley has long been commuting country and this prosperous suburb offers a calm and soothing haven for those returning from the capital by tube and rail.
Properties:
Central Finchley is the oldest part and popular with families. Attractive streets are lined with large Victorian and Edwardian houses, as well as terraced properties, and there are plenty of purpose-built blocks of flats. West Finchley has a much more suburban atmosphere with 1920/1930 properties and it also boasts a golf course and two pleasant parks. Church End is home to the areas largest houses and historic buildings. East Finchley has row upon row of terraced houses and is a beeline for flat hunters. East again, towards Muswell Hill, are the larger and more detached properties. In North Finchley there are the suburban 3-bedroom properties which give the area a decidedly family feel. Woodside Park has an abundance of convenient and comfortable flats in smart blocks and new flats are still appearing on any available plots. There are however still many green areas - playing fields, a nature reserve, and the shady haven of Coppetts Wood.
Buyers:
Families come to Finchley to join an ever-changing population in a stable community, young singles and professional couples come both to rent and buy in this comfortable and convenient part of London. Older couples too, sell family homes and happily downscale to the area's luxury flats.
