Summary:
Cricklewood is a district of North London, England whose north-eastern part is in the London Borough of Barnet, western part is the London Borough of Brent and south-eastern part is in London Borough of Camden. Cricklewood only fully became an industrial and suburban district in the 1930s. The hamlets of Cricklewood, Dollis Hill and Oxgate were quite prepared to see the world pass by until the railways came to these parts in 1868. In the summer of 1881 the Midland Railway Company moved its locomotive works from Kentish Town to the new 'Brent Sidings', and in October of the same year it was announced that new accommodation for its workers would be built, later the Cricklewood Railway Cottages. NW2 is home to well-established communities. The area is a good place to hunt for relatively affordable, cosmopolitan property. Brent has shaken its 1980s 'loony left' label and is growing ever more popular with those who can't afford the sky high prices of neighbouring Kensington and Maida Vale.
Properties:
Prices for individual homes can be in the millions for properties near Hampstead, but there are also pockets of new build, with more in the pipeline. Infilling is continuing, with developers still building home developments in whatever space they can find. It reflects Cricklewood's slow, but unstoppable rise to popularity. A wide range of property is available, from converted flats, to grand detached houses and mansion flats, with a splattering of Victorian/Edwardian terraces, 1930's semi-detached and railway cottages.
Buyers:
Families who need more space for their money and are looking for an affordable family home. Brent is one of London's most multi-cultural boroughs, with over half its population from an ethnic minority.
