Summary:

W4 is a residential area of west London, located six miles west of the city centre and covers the eastern part of the London Borough of Hounslow. The river Thames curves protectively around W4, which contains tree-lined streets, parks and schools. Chiswick is a family-orientated area, with good amenities and a generally sedate atmosphere. A new, well-designed business park has brightened a previously derelict area. W4 is not entirely residential, Chiswick High Road offers a mix of retail, restaurants, food outlets and expanding office space. The wide streets encourage cafes and restaurants to provide pavement seating, adding to Chiswick's increasing café culture. Also home to the Griffin Brewery, where Fuller, Smith & Turner brew their prize-winning ales. A riverside location, excellent transport links into the city, open spaces and fine Victorian property, provides an enviable list of attributes.

Properties:

Family homes, (mostly Victorian/Edwardian) with gardens, along with some attractive new flats and houses. There are some smaller terraces and popular mansion blocks. The riverside has some splendid Georgian homes, as well as cottages and new schemes. Victorian cottages and Edwardian Terraces can be found off the High Road, which boasts grand mansion blocks along its bustling route. Riverside Grove Park offers larger homes, whilst the mix of period property at Strand on the Green provides the areas most sought after location.

Buyers:

Younger buyers cluster near to the underground, while the peaceful streets are popular with families. Riverside and Grove park owners are wealthy and these homes rarely come onto the market. There are many TV and media people living in Chiswick, as well as a significant number of American expatriates. Residents tend to stay in Chiswick, once they discover it and the area has always been popular with the artistic community.
