Summary:

Camden Town, famous for its crowded market, is an inner-city district located two miles north of the city centre. The area is popular with students, including those from overseas and attracts many people with alternative lifestyles. While Camden is often described as seedy, Primrose Hill definitely has an air of affluence. The north-west corner of NW1 is a sedate oasis of refined streets, the hill itself and Regent's Park. There is a stark contrast between the neighbouring areas of Camden and Primrose Hill. However, both areas will benefit from the proximity of the new St Pancreas station development, with its Eurostar services to the continent. Up until the start of the 1990's, Camden was cheap and cheerful, home to artists of all kinds. However, warrens of bed sits have since been restored into alluring, Victorian homes.

Properties:

The streets in the immediate vicinity of Camden Town are crammed with old, but respectable terraced housing, as well as newer council estates, many of which house privately-owned flats. Most housing is Victorian and comes in all sizes and all states of gentrification. There are many converted flats and many modern homes, with more on the way. Plenty of council-built properties and some are particularly desirable. The area around Regent's Park and Primrose Hill is always smart, peaceful and well looked after, with some very elegant Victorian terraces. The houses are generally large, three-storey properties.

Buyers:

Many bohemian buyers came into Camden and bought up all the period homes. Conversions are the main source of flats, plus dissected school buildings and new blocks. The few large, family homes are much sought after, in Primrose Hill and Gloucester Crescent. The eastern and southern fringes have cheaper properties, as well as Kentish Town. Regent's Park is home to the very wealthy, while Primrose Hill attracts well-paid professionals and celebrities.
